General
What is Rubicon Probity?
Probity is a decision intelligence platform that captures how your organisation actually works — meetings, emails, conversations, documents — and turns it into clear decisions, accountable actions, and a permanent record of why. It combines three capabilities: distilling noise to signal, challenging decisions with cognitive bias detection, and connecting decisions to accountable execution.
How is Probity different from project management tools?
Project management tools track tasks. Probity tracks decisions — the reasoning, the alternatives, the biases, and the outcomes. Tasks are a byproduct of decisions, not the other way around. Most organisations have decent task tracking and terrible decision tracking. Probity fixes the gap that matters.
How is Probity different from AI assistants like ChatGPT or Copilot?
AI assistants generate content and answer questions. Probity governs the decisions those assistants influence. It catches when AI is agreeing too readily, when recommendations are biased, and when important context has been lost between sessions. Probity does not replace your AI tools — it makes sure the decisions informed by them are sound.
Do I need to change how my team works?
No. Probity accepts input from the tools your team already uses — email, voice recordings, chat, web clippings. The distillation engine handles classification and routing. Your team captures information the way they always have. The structure happens after capture, not before.
Is Probity only for large enterprises?
No. Probity is designed for organisations with 10 to 500 people — the size where decisions are frequent enough to matter but informal enough to get lost. If your team makes important decisions in meetings that nobody properly records, Probity is built for you.
Decision intelligence
What is cognitive bias detection?
Probity's engine checks every consequential decision against a library of 153 documented cognitive biases — including confirmation bias, anchoring, sunk cost fallacy, groupthink, and availability bias. It surfaces the biases most likely to distort the specific decision you are making and challenges you to consider alternatives.
What do the CLEAR, CAUTION, and STOP verdicts mean?
CLEAR means the decision has been challenged, alternatives considered, and no significant bias patterns detected. CAUTION means bias indicators were found — the decision may still be right, but you should review the flagged concerns. STOP means the bias risk is high enough that proceeding without additional review would be reckless. You can override any verdict, but the override and your reasoning are captured permanently.
Can I override the system's recommendation?
Yes. Probity is a challenge tool, not a gatekeeper. You can override any verdict at any time. The override, your rationale, and the original recommendation are all captured in the decision record. The goal is informed judgment, not obstruction.
Why is Probity designed to challenge rather than agree?
Most AI tools are sycophantic — they agree with you, confirm your assumptions, and avoid uncomfortable truths. Probity is designed to do the opposite. The structured challenge protocol, the bias detection, and the CAUTION/STOP verdicts all exist to surface the things you might prefer not to hear. An AI governance tool that tells you what you want to hear defeats the purpose.
Does Probity make decisions for me?
No. Probity challenges, documents, and tracks decisions. The human always makes the final call. The platform's job is to make sure that call is informed, challenged, and recorded — not to replace human judgment.
Technical
What AI models does Probity support?
Probity is model-agnostic. It works with Claude, GPT, DeepSeek, Grok, Gemini, and any future model that follows standard API conventions. Your governance layer should never lock you into a single AI vendor.
How does Probity integrate with our existing tools?
Through an MCP server for AI development environments and a REST API for any application. Probity is designed to work inside the tools your team already uses, not as a separate application they have to remember to open. Most teams are operational within hours, not weeks.
Where is our data stored?
Probity runs on UK and EU infrastructure. Your decision data, context, and audit trails are encrypted at rest and in transit. We do not use your data to train models. Full data processing details are available on request.
How does Probity handle memory across sessions?
Most AI tools lose all context when a session ends. Probity's persistent memory maintains project context, decision history, and institutional knowledge across sessions — searchable and always available. The AI remembers what matters because we engineered it to, not because the model does it natively.
Can Probity handle voice recordings and meeting transcripts?
Yes. The distillation engine processes audio recordings, meeting transcripts, and voice notes. Decisions, actions, risks, and commitments are extracted automatically. You drop the recording in; the structured output comes out.
Compliance and governance
Does Probity help with EU AI Act compliance?
Yes. Probity provides what the EU AI Act's high-risk obligations require: traceable reasoning for AI-informed decisions, documented alternatives, cognitive bias controls, human-in-the-loop oversight with configurable thresholds, and immutable audit records. Built into the decision process from day one — not bolted on after the fact.
What does the audit trail contain?
Every decision record includes: the decision statement, the context and evidence considered, alternatives that were evaluated, cognitive biases that were detected, the verdict (CLEAR / CAUTION / STOP), any override rationale, the person who made the final call, and the outcome once recorded. The trail is immutable and searchable.
Can auditors access the decision records?
Yes. Decision records can be exported in standard formats for regulatory review. The audit trail is designed to answer the questions regulators will ask: how was this decision made, what was considered, what oversight was in place, and can the reasoning be traced after the fact.
Is there role-based access control?
Yes. Probity supports configurable access controls aligned to your organisational structure. Decision visibility, override permissions, and audit access can all be scoped to specific roles and teams.
Getting started
How long does it take to get started?
Most teams are capturing and distilling within a day. The full decision governance workflow — with bias detection, challenge protocols, and audit trails — is typically operational within a week. Integration with existing tools via MCP or REST API depends on your environment but is measured in hours, not months.
Is there a free way to start?
The AI Clarity Score is free — eight honest questions that map where your organisation stands with AI. Takes two minutes, no email required. It is the simplest way to understand whether Probity addresses a real gap in your operations.
Can we run a pilot?
Yes. Most organisations start with a focused pilot — one team, one decision type, one month. The goal is to prove value against your own operations before committing to a broader rollout.
